Greetings and salutations, oh pilgrim. Since this story is completed, I’ve decided to make the comic page, which won’t really change for awhile, into a blog on which I can post updates as to the progress of the various Muktuk works I hope to usher into the world in the near future. Here’s the cover–I’ve changed this story’s name from “Baby Love”, which I always thought was stupid, into what I hope is the more intriguing “Spirit of Boo”. I’ll be changing a few things in the story as well, nothing major, just some word balloons and titles and what not, so it all flows better. Once I do that, I’ll put it all into a pdf and send it off to various parties whose interest I hope to pique. I’ll let you know what happens. Meanwhile, if you’ve never been here before, there’s a whole graphic novel to peruse. Start with the slideshows if you want it all to go faster–all the chapters are in them but the last one, and I don’t want to make that too easy–it won’t be up long, anyway. If you like Muktuk, please join my mailing list and stay posted on upcoming events. So to speak.
I’m pleased to announce that the Muktuk ebook is almost ready and should be uploaded this week. I’m just waiting for someone to read it over for typos and whatnot. I’m including the first 3 original Muktuk stories from my comic book series Cud and Cud Comics, which have never been reprinted, making the whole package an incredible value for whatever price I decide to sell it( under 10 bucks, for sure). Official announcement soon, but you read it here first!
Has it been almost 2 months since I finished this already? Jeezus. Well, if time’s flown, it’s because it’s been busy around here. All the attention I paid to Muktuk over its 8 month run meant I’d neglected a lot of other stuff, which I had to catch up on. Also, my daughter had a bat mitzvah, and if you’ve ever been to one or actually hosted one, you know what an all-consuming project that is.
I have, however, been researching various Muktuk options, particularly how to get an ebook out. Turns out there a lot of ways to do it, and it’s easy to get lost in all the options, but I’ve made a lot of progress, and with any luck, I should have something out by early February. In fact, I just spent most of the day today writing the introduction. I’ve also concluded that trying to get an actual publisher to take this on will likely be an unremunerative pain in the ass, so I’m leaning pretty strongly towards self-publishing. When I have actual products to announce, I’ll send out a newsletter, so if you haven’t signed up yet, please do. Oh, and happy new year! May it bring you many blessings. Mind the Mayans, ok?
It’s end of the year “best-of list” time. If you’re in a position to suggest candidates for inclusion, please consider “Muktuk Wolfsbreath”. Hey, it never hurts to ask.
Michael Cavna, who does the Comics Riff blog at the Washington Post website, is calling for nominations for the best webcomics of 2011. Earn my undying gratitude and put Muktuk on the list! Here’s the link: http://wapo.st/rIyyL6
And Happy Thanksgiving!
